Just after the millenium Paul Moore and Darren Jackson who are accomplished FM and AM broadcasters with some 35 years experience between them, had the idea to put Ashby Radio on, so they did exactly that, Paul & Darren are joint owners of the station and after a few years of thought, they actually managed to get the station running in 2005 when they got our first broadcast on, in the first instance it was very hard work as the community of Ashby and its surrounding villages had never had their very own local radio station.
Ashby Radio has now grown very popular attracting over 400,000 hits to the website on each broadcast ! Throughout these broadcasts we have managed to put together some strong local support, not only from the business's and organisations in the town, but from you, some have actually joined us and now present shows or work behind the scenes to ensure that Ashby Radio is as good as, if not better, than any other radio station. After many months of very hard work, on the 8th January 2008 we sent our community licence application to Ofcom, all we have to do now is sit and wait to find out if we will get a 5yr licence.
Ashby Radio is always looking for new members to join the team and we are proud to announce that Alister Wheeldon, known as Big Al to his listeners is now a valued member of the managment team.
