Grant Aid

Ashby Radio secured a grant to enable to complete the development of their studio one project at our Huntington House base in Ashby. The grant has been provided by The Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation and Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

Speaking to Ashby Radio, Director Nicola Dalby said “the trust are thrilled that they have been able to support the Radio Station in the next phase of its development and to contribute towards securing the long term future of the station for listeners and communities across the area." Nicola went on to confirm the ethos of Ashby Radio all the management and staff subscribe to.

"Local community radio provides a great service to local residents as its just that-local-and focuses on issues and information that people find useful and informative. It's creative and covers a broad range of topics-like the foundation itself!" Nicola went on to wish Ashby Radio well for the future and looked forward to hearing how the station was supporting listeners in the community.
Speaking on behalf of Ashby Radio assistant Station Manager Alister Wheeldon said " This is fantastic news for Ashby Radio. We will now continue to broadcast on line when our second 28 day trial broadcast on FM comes to an end on 23rd November 2007.

The management has applied for a full time community licence from the broadcast regulator Ofcom and we very much hope that towards the end of the summer of 2008 Ashby Radio will know if we have been succcesful, if we have then Ashby De La Zouch and the surrounding villages will have a permanent community radio station on FM. that would aim to begin its 5yr licence in 2009.
