Ashby Radio’s Eddy Elton wins an award for his Show

Ashby Radio’s Eddy Elton picks up a Silver Award at this year’s Student Radio Awards for Best Specialist Music Programme.

Out of all the student radio stations throughout the UK Eddy Elton’s Specialist Dance show was one of six put forward for nomination in October.

The Awards were hosted and supported by Radio 1 and other commercial stations.

The ceremony took place Thursday night (15th Nov) in Covent Garden, London. This is where Eddy found out he had been awarded Silver.

1xtra's MistaJam presented Eddy with the award at the annual ceremony in London and said that he was extremely impressed with the entry. Before revealing the winner, he said:

'When I was listening to this entry, I had to check whether it was the CD I was listening to and not the radio. It was that professional!'

Eddy, who has been developing and perfecting his Friday night show on LCR for years, was thrilled with the acknowledgment saying:

' It's unbelievable to have received such praise. The award was one thing but to be complimented like that was amazing. All the effort has definitely paid off and MistaJam has my CV flying his way when I get back!'
