How did you get into radio presenting?
After making tapes of myself pretending to be on the radio aged 9 (I still have them…) in my 20’s I joined a hospital radio station. After years of broadcasting to a ‘captive audience’ I gained experience on trial stations and bombarded local commercial stations with demo tapes. Eventually one day (they must have been desperate at that point) one of them said ‘yes’
What’s the best thing about working with Ashby Radio?
It’s near the pub.
Do you have a nick Name?
Strangely no – although I once entered my name into a nick name generator online and it replied with ‘DJDandapub’. How spooky!
Have you got any pets?
Nope. I struggle to look after myself sometimes…
What music are you listening to at the moment?
Hot Chip – Ready for the Floor. Shame the album is not as great as this track…

I’m a classically trained pianist
What’s your most embarrassing moment on air?
Hmmm let’s see – there are loads. Being new at one station I was struggling with the play-out system and would press the wrong button and accidentally ‘dump’ a track halfway through. I did it several times during one show. Lots of sudden silence followed by ‘Erm sorry about that… we seem to be having technical problems in the studio…’ That wasn’t one of my best shows.
Favourite food?
A decent curry or a good full English breakfast.
Favourite drink?
Guinness
Favourite holiday destination?
Spain, Cornwall and I like Ireland too. Difficult to choose.
Favourite TV show/film?
Life on Mars. Absolutely brilliant.
When are you on air?
Saturday afternoons from 4 ‘till 7
